Motorcycle Safety

Don't be a statistic. Share the Road.

Motorcycle Safety

Motorcyclists have the same rights and responsibilities on public roadways as other highway users. While everyone must legally abide by the same traffic laws, there are special situations and conditions of which drivers need to be extra alert, so they can share the road safely to help keep motorcyclists safe.

Motorcyclists should also take extra precautions to make themselves visible to other motorists.

What you can do!

Share the road with motorcycles. Motorcycles are vehicles with the same rights and privileges as any motor vehicle on the roadway.

Don't drink and ride. Statistics show that the percentage of intoxicated motorcycle riders in fatal crashes is greater than the percentage of intoxicated drivers on our roads.

Wear a helmet. Motorcycle crash statistics show that helmets are about 29 percent effective in preventing crash fatalities. (National HIghway Traffic Safety Administration)
