Drive Safe Alabama

Drinking and Driving

Drinking and driving puts lives and your driving privileges at risk.

Drinking and Driving

The consumption of alcohol or drugs by drivers is a major contributing factor in traffic crashes. Each year, approximately 50 percent of all FATAL crashes involve drivers who have been drinking.

Under Alabama law, it is unlawful to drive with a concentration of 0.08 percent or more alcohol in the blood or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

What you can do!

Designate a driver in your group when getting drinks with friends or family.

Don't judge your alcohol level by what you’ve consumed. The amount of alcohol in one bottle of beer is about equal to that in an average “shot of whiskey or a glass of wine.” The effect on the average driver is the same.

Never drink and drive. It’s simply not worth the risk.
