The Alabama Department of Transportation is responsible for approximately 11,000 miles of state, U.S., and interstate highways across Alabama. ALDOT divides Alabama’s 67 counties into geographic areas accountable for construction, maintenance, and customer service to citizens and businesses.
Accountability, good community relations, and timely service to the news media are priorities for ALDOT. The Media and Community Relations Bureau in Montgomery and public information officers in each of the five ALDOT regions around the state provide service to the public and the news media.
